The Urbane Cyclist is pleased to offer Free Shipping on orders over $50, with a few sensible restrictions:

Offer is available to customers in the continental U.S. or at APO addresses. Oversized items, such as bicycles and framesets, are ineligible.

When you place your order, enter the coupon code "FreeShip" at the checkout screen. If there are any oversized items within the order, we will contact you with an exact quote.

Items will ship via UPS Ground and we will send you the tracking number once your package leaves the store.
 
Customers in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico as well as international customers cannot use this offer and will be charged the usual shipping rate according to their order totals and delivery destination. 

If you need to return an item that was shipped for free, your refund will be less the amount it cost The Urbane Cyclist to ship it to you. This reduced refund will be waived if the return was related to a mistake made by The Urbane Cyclist. Customer is responsible for all return shipping charges unless the return is related to a mistake on our part. (For example: You ordered soothing chamois cream, and we sent you scorching hot embrocation.)

Domestic Shipping  

We ship domestic and international orders through the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) or via UPS, depending on the size and destination. 

We do not offer First Class Ground service because we would not be able to offer tracking numbers with this method.  Our rates are based upon order totals and depend upon whether or not you choose Priority or Express level service.  The default shipping method for the continental US is Priority Mail, and those customers in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico pay an additional $10 on top of that per merchandise total bracket to receive standard air service.  The map below offers an approximation of when you might anticipate your merchandise based upon USPS Priority service. Oversized items will ship via UPS Ground. In both instances, the customer will receive a tracking number that will provide live information via the carrier's website.

Orders with a merchandise total of $200 or more, or orders that need to be packaged in more than one box may require additional shipping charges.

International shipping 

We ship to many countries around the globe using USPS Priority Mail International. The shipping cost is based upon order totals and the required insurance.  At this time, there are certain countries for which we cannot provide service.

Any import taxes or duties are your responsibility. It is our policy to never mark an order's customs forms as a 'gift.' We suggest contacting your local postal service and government to determine the import taxes or duties for your location. 

Please email or call us for assistance prior to placing your international order. We will not process and/or ship any international order without contacting you to verify the supplied information is correct. Also, please note that due to the vairables like order size, weight, insurance value, and destination, we cannot always pre-determine the shipping cost. Prior to our charging your card and the order leaving our shop, we will contact you with a more detailed shipping cost and time in transit information.

Oversized Items International Shipping Charges

When you place your order, your credit card will be authorized for the merchandise total plus shipping charges based on the merchandise total. The Urbane Cyclist will manually apply the necessary oversized item shipping fee. For orders that include both oversized and non-oversized items (for example, a set of rims and two hubs), the customer will be charged for the shipment of two separate parcels unless The Urbane Cyclist deems it safe and prudent to mail the items together in the oversized box. This will not often be the case unless smaller items can be fully secured within the larger parcel so as not to damage themselves or other merchandise. Stock Status - Most of our items ship in 2-3 days

Our brick and mortar retail store maintains a seasonal inventory to compliment the needs and requests of our local clientele in Salem, MA and the metro Boston area. We keep our prices competitively low by fulfilling many orders from our local warehouse, nearby distributors, or directly from the manufacturer. We offer some of best prices nationwide on thousands of items by utilizing a "just in time" inventory system.

Not every item we offer gets plucked from the store's shelves. Most items leave or shipping department or are ready for free in-store pickup within 2-3 business days. Items with a shipping time frame of 5-7 business days often come from manufacturers based on the West Coast. We do our best to keep the stock status up to date but sometimes  inventory levels change quickly.
